Ms. Laura Goeden, of Port Washington, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 9, 2022, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee after a long illness. She was 55 years old.
Laura was born on November 3, 1966, in Port Washington to Donald and Carol (nee Fenney) Goeden. She grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Shorewood High School through their hearing-impaired program with the class of 1985. After high school, she attended University of Wisconsin Whitewater and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in comparative literature from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
In her professional career, Laura started working at Bolens Manufacturing in Port Washington for several years and then at the United States Post Office in Milwaukee for 14 years. She then got her license as a paraprofessional and worked in the Marshfield School District and later at the Milwaukee Sign Language School.
Laura had a passion for genealogy and traced her family history back to the 1300's. Using the information she collected, she loved to travel and connect with family overseas. She enjoyed volunteering at the Port Washington Historical Society and the Luxembourg American Cultural Society in Belgium. Laura was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and loved cheering for the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers. She also loved her sheltie dogs: Sport and Mully.
Laura is survived by her parents Don and Carol of Fredonia, her three siblings: Cathy (Brian) Wilger of Port Washington, Michael (Carmen) Goeden of Port Washington and Mark (Novy) Goeden of Chicago. She is further survived by her uncle Joe (Maryann) Fenney, her niece Ellie, three nephews: Jacob, Branden, and Brody, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Tilford and Dorothy Fenney and Roman and Marie Goeden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 6:30 PM, at St. John XXIII Parish –St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will celebrate the Mass.
Visitation will take place at the Church on Wednesday, September 21st from 4-6:30 PM.
Laura will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Port Washington.
