Mr. Larry Trickel, of Port Washington, formerly Fredonia, WI, passed away surrounded by his loving family in the evening hours of Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton at the age of 82.
Larry was born in Monroe, WI, on October 18, 1939, son of Fred and Geraldine (Nee Reedy) Trickel. He grew up in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1957. Upon graduation, Larry served in the United States Navy, serving until honorably discharged in 1962. After being discharged, he started his career at Gugler Litho. On October 5th, 1963, he married the one and only love of his life, Bette Johnson in Wittenberg, WI. In 1968, they moved to the farm in Fredonia to raise their family.
In his retirement, he moved to Port Washington where he was a member of the Great Lakes Sport Fishing Club and enjoyed taking his family and friends, especially his grandsons, out to share his passion for fishing. Each year he looked forward to volunteering at the Disabled Veterans Fishing Outing in Port Washington. Larry also enjoyed driving around in his convertible sports cars. Most of all, he loved the time he shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his three children: Julie (Bob) Hallam of Libertyville, IL, Mary (Tim) Kuhl of New Berlin, WI, and William Trickel of Oshkosh, WI, seven loving grandchildren: Jason Thao, Joshua Thao, Andrew (Pa) Thao, Adam (Kim) Kuhl, Taylor (Casee) Trickel, Jake (Jessi) Kuhl, and Lizzie (Branden) Faulkner. He is further survived by five great-granddaughters: Annalee, Sapheirra, Riley, Reagan, Isla, and soon to be two great-grandsons, his brother Dave (Marlene) Trickel, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bette, his grandson Nathan Trickel, and sisters-in-law: Shirley (John) Hartleben, Char (Jim) Yaeger, and Eileen (Don) Schmidt.
Visitation will take place on Monday, October 10, 2022, from 4-6 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. A service celebrating Larry's life will follow at 6 PM.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Larry Trickel's name.
