Lamonte Cranston
Cook
September 11, 1959 — September 14, 2026
Lamonte Cook of Milwaukee, WI, passed away unexpectedly the evening of September 14, 2026. He was 67 years old. Lamonte was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on September 11, 1959. On November 29, 2018 he was united in marriage to Patrick Desmond, after 40 years together.
Lamonte graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1982. He would go on to pursue a career in sales, eventually opening his own home décor store – Cranston – in the Third Ward, of which he was immensely proud. Outside of his passionate career, Lamonte had a love of cooking, baking, gardening, and entertaining. He was a sports fanatic- especially of the Badgers, Packers, Brewers, and Bucks.
He had a special way of helping people in need. Lamonte loved everyone, no matter what color, religion, age, sexual preference or political views. He had an exceptional ability to meet and engage with people with his big smile, his listening and caring, along with just being nice. His gentle, unassuming way of communicating with people was amazing. His smile, laughing, listening and caring will be missed by many people.
Lamonte is survived by his beloved husband, Patrick Desmond; and his best companion, Jameson, their Goldendoodle; his sisters Ramona Lee Johnson, and Priscilla Irene (Carlos) Bell; extended family Janet Ebert, Jim (Nancy) Desmond, Michael Desmond, and Joanne (John) McGinty. He is further survived by dozens of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends- of whom he adored.
Lamonte was proceeded in death by his sister Wanda Lee Wilburn; his brother Robert Lee Cook; extended family Ellen (George) Patterson and Stu Desmond.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your local humane society.
Per Lamonte’s wishes, no services will be held.
Rest in Peace Lamonte!
