Mr. LaVerne Lyman Lunde of Port Washington formerly of South Dakota passed away surrounded by his loving family during the evening hours of Tuesday December 23 2014 at Ellen's Home in Port Washington. He was 82 years old. Lyman was born in Watertown SD on April 2 1932 son of Peter Lunde and Malinda Karlson Lunde. After High School Lyman served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Minos where he was nicknamed Peachy. On April 18 1955 he married Tonetta Toni Buckland. Lyman worked as a Journeyman Painter in South Dakota and also as a custodian at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington. Lyman was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Port Washington Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant SD and the American Legion. He enjoyed bird watching playing golf and loved the Green Bay Packers. He is survived by his wife Toni of Port Washington son Donald (Bonnie) Lunde of Oostburg daughters Vicki (Paul) Czisny of Port Washington Karla (Tad) Mertens of Florida and Tawnya (Paul) Lewis of Port Washington. He is further survived by nine grandchildren: Erica (Josh) Sara (Andy) Brian (Erin) Amanda (Dakota) Joseph Erin Dustin Miranda and Jesse seven great-grandchildren sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Memorial services will be held on Friday January 2 2015 at 6 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington with Pastor Jonathan Breimeier presiding. He will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Sheboygan. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday January 2nd from 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
