Mr. Kenneth John of Shawano, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away at Lincoln Village in Port Washington on Saturday, October 21, 2017. He was 88 years old. Ken was born in Milwaukee on April 19, 1929, son of Arthur and Helen (nee Pleier) John. Ken grew up in Milwaukee and attended North Division High School where he graduated in 1947. Following graduation, he went to school to become a draftsman. On December 30, 1950 he was united in marriage with Donna Bigelow in Milwaukee. Ken worked at Worden Allen before being drafted into the US Army in 1951. After his service, Ken became a patrol officer with Milwaukee Police Department. He retired in 1988 after 32 years of service. Ken and Donna moved up to Shawano following their retirement. He built a home on Shawano Lake with his uncles PeeWee and John. As a couple, they enjoyed attending auctions, buying and selling antiques. Ken appreciated the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. The highlight of his later years was attending events for his grandchildren, and spending time with them whenever possible. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Donna of Port Washington, daughter Valerie (Tom) Miller of Port Washington, daughter-in-law Susan (the late Michael) John of Wauwatosa, grandchildren: Jennifer (Joel) Bublitz of Cedarburg, Brian (Jamie) Miller of Dallas, TX and Diana (Joey) Berwyn of Denver, CO, great-grandchildren: Ty Bublitz, Ethan Bublitz and Beckett Miller. Ken is further survived by his sister Gerry (Walter) Schwanz of Waukesha, brother Ed (Mary) John of The Villages, FL, brothers-in-law Jerry (Carol) Bigelow and Harley Kagerbauer, all of Shawano, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ken is preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Helen John, parents-in-law John & Lucy Bigelow, sister-in-law Joanne Kagerbauer and son Michael John.
