Obituary

On April 16, 1949, Keith Donald Campbell was born in North Kingstown, New Jersey, to Donald and Harriet (Luehrs) Campbell. On August 5, 2023, Keith joined his mother and father in God's kingdom after a brave battle with dementia, surrounded by his loving family and friends in his home that he built in Richfield.

Keith's youth was spent in many locations all over the globe because his parents both served in the military. His family settled in Beaver Dam when Keith was a sophomore where he graduated in 1967 and studied at MSOE for two years. He decided to go to the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, majoring in physical education. Upon graduation in 1973, he was immediately hired by Stone Bank Elementary School to teach physical education to grades kindergarten through eighth grade. During his years as a teacher, he also coached basketball, wrestling, baseball, taught swimming and life guarded at Arrowhead High School and Hasslinger's Beach on Okauchee Lake. He coached Stone Bank Little League and girls' softball in Slinger, where he built the second home for his family. He retired from Stone Bank School after 37 years, being loved by his students and respected by his peers.

Keith is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan (Haseley) Campbell. He was "Pa" to three adoring children: Michael of Richfield, Melissa (Abraham) Urena of Richfield and Mary (Allison) Olson of Sussex, and "PaPa" to five loving grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Anita (Paul) Gurgel of Menomonee Falls, Marilyn (Ronald) Schroeder, and Wendy (Mark) Crews of Washington (state), as well as many special nieces and nephews, in-laws, and one aunt. Keith was blessed with so many loving friends who were supportive and compassionate during his illness.

Keith would say that his best memories were times spent with family, spoiling them with homemade pizza on Sunday and frequent trips to custard stands whenever one was close. He also enjoyed doing carpentry work, having built the family's two houses and his daughter's home next door. He could fix anything, often using his talents to help his friends. He loved art and architecture, going on trips to Door County, New York, Florida, and Arizona. His father taught him to fly his Cessna, and he achieved his own pilot's license. Keith loved the outdoors, camping, canoeing, planting trees and gardening. His puns and jokes received many groans; however, they will live forever in everyone's hearts. His puffed-cheek kisses will be missed the most, along with his big smile and patience.

Keith's love of children was always his special quality, making him a wonderful father and an outstanding teacher. He was an advocate for all children, but especially those with challenges, both physical and mental. For this reason, in lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and the Sierra Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at St. Gabriel Catholic Parish Church, 1200 St. Gabriel Way, Hubertus at 11:30 AM. Burial to follow at Cedar Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends and relatives at the CHURCH from 9:30 AM until the time of service.

Keith's family would like to thank their loving family members and friends during this difficult journey. Special gratitude is given to Laura House and Ty of Vitas Hospice and the many caregivers who visited us. We appreciate the care we received at Community Hospital in Menomonee Falls, both in the ER and on the second floor with special admiration to Dr. Ngene. Dr. Stephanie Barz of Aurora Health Care in Hubertus took wonderful care of Keith throughout the years.
