Kathi Schmidt, of Port Washington, passed away unexpectedly in the early evening hours of Sunday, April 8, 2018 at her residence. She was 64 years old. Kathi was born in Fort Wayne, IN on December 22, 1953, daughter of Donald Clarke and Jeannine Bradley Clarke. She moved to Grafton as a young child, and graduated from Grafton High School with the class of 1972. On November 12, 1983, she married Greg Schmidt in Brookfield. The couple moved to Port Washington where they raised their family. After working 10 years at Briggs & Stratton, she became a stay at home mom, and started an in home day care, which she ran for over 30 years. Kathi was also a licensed nail technician, and enjoyed crocheting many afghans and blankets for her family and friends, and enjoyed tracing her family genealogy. She also loved her many pets.
Kathi is survived by her husband Greg of Port Washington, her three children: Andrew (Amber) Schmidt of Saukville, Amanda (Jason) Kloppmann of Mequon, and Brittany (Colin) Halladay of Grafton. She is further survived by seven grandchildren: Bryson, Madison, Aiden, Brooklyn, Cameron, Peyton, and Maddi, three siblings: Ralph (Cindy) Clarke of New Port Richey, FL, Mike (Krysta) Clarke, and Jack Clarke, both of Grafton, brothers and sisters-in-law: Dave (Laura) Schmidt of Franklin, Jeff Schmidt of St. Francis, Jo Ellen (Terry) Ewert of Greendale, and Rob (Michael Thompson) Schmidt of Franklin, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Jeannine Clarke, her sister Kim Larson, and her in-laws Richard and JoAnn Schmidt.
Funeral services for Kathi will be celebrated on Thursday, April 12th at 6:30 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington. Rev. Linda Westphal-Buth will preside over the service. A time of gathering will precede the funeral service from 4-6:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Wisconsin Humane Society, Ozaukee Campus.
