Port Washington resident Karl R. Schulz passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the age of 94. Karl was born on December 20, 1923, in Sheboygan, WI, the son of Reverend Karl and Hilda Schulz. Karl is survived by his beloved wife Mary (Rossetto) of 42 years. Karl was devoted to his children, son Steve (Fall Creek, WI), daughter Christine (Plant City, FL), grandson Brian Schulz, (Waukesha, WI), granddaughter, Michelle Schulz (Waukesha, WI), brother Richard Schulz (Sheboygan, WI). Karl is further survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother Paul, and his wife Marion Schulz (Janesville, WI), sister-in-law, Marilyn Schulz (Sheboygan, WI), and stepdaughter Carol Ann Loppnow.
Karl served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII, serving 1943-1946, as a B-24 Bombardier in the South Pacific Theatre. He then served for 23 years in the US Air Force Reserve, with the 438th Fighter Bomber Wing, and the 440th Troop Carrier Wing at Mitchell Field, Milwaukee. He retired as Lt. Colonel in 1972. Was a member of The Air Force Association, and the Military Officer Association.
He was employed by the Wisconsin Telephone company for 35 years, beginning in the plant department as a lineman. In 1962, he was temporarily transferred to AT&T New York to develop sales training material for the Bell System. Upon return Karl worked in the marketing training department and retired in 1982.
Mr. Schulz found pleasure in all sports, primarily tennis, playing almost daily well into his 80's. Karl was also an avid walker in Port Washington, walking the Port Washington Urban Trail and Port lakefront in all kinds of weather.
Mr. Schulz was a faithful member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton, WI. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church (701 Washington Street, Grafton, WI 53024). Visitation will be at the CHURCH from 9:30AM until time of service. Full military honors to follow the service. Karl will be buried at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 10700 W. Capitol Drive Milwaukee, on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11:00AM.
