Obituary

Karl Anthony Neumann of Cedarburg, Wisconsin was received with open arms into God’s heavenly kingdom on September 30, 2026, after a sudden cardiac arrest on September 25, 2026. He was 80 years old.

Karl was born in Linz, Austria on August 17th, 1946, in a displaced persons camp where his Romanian parents, Nikolaus Neumann and Sara Ehrlich met, married, and had their three children. The family lived in Camp Bindermichel for five years until a religious organization sponsored their move to a farm in Oklahoma where Nikolaus and Sara would work. After two years in Oklahoma, the family moved to Milwaukee where Nikolaus found work and was able, with his wife, Sara, to support the family.

Karl knew no English when he started school at Gesu Christian grade school. Karl continued his education at St. Mary’s Help of Christians Catholic School. He was a favorite of the nuns, doing service for them like carrying their groceries in his wagon and other kindnesses. He attended Marquette University High School, where he was a diligent, good student. He played football and varsity baseball. Upon graduating from MUHS in 1965 Karl went to UWM where he earned a degree in accounting. He continued his education and got his Certified Public Accountant degree, also from UWM.

He married the love of his life, Donna Brath, who he called “the world’s best wife”. They were married 54 years. They had three wonderful sons, Jon (Laura), Nick, and Eric (Lee). He loved and was the proud Opa to Nico, Isaac, August, and Matthew. His buddies/brothers were Rudolf Neumann and Joseph Neumann. He was uncle to Debbie, David, Daniel, Kris and Sarah (deceased) Neumann. Karl was preceded in death by his loving parents Nikolaus and Sara (Ehrlich) Neumann, who kept their charming German accents through the years.

Karl began his accounting career in downtown Milwaukee as an accountant for A L Grutomat. Later he worked for Meier, Clancy, George & Co., where he worked his way up to partner. That firm merged with Schenck Business Solutions, now a well-known firm. Karl’s last job gave him the opportunity to work with his great young friends, John and Nick Stecker at their accounting office during tax season. He loved it!

One of the highlights of his life was the camaraderie he found as a member of the Cedarburg Lions Club! He enjoyed the many meeting and charitable fundraising events. In 1986 the club recognized his contributions with a plaque for outstanding leadership as the club’s president. Many thanks for their friendship and kindness!

Karl was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2014. As it progressed, he had to give up driving, participating in Lion’s events and gradually many other things. These activities were replaced by doctor appointments and therapies. His faith in Jesus kept depression at bay and motivated him. He knew God loved him and had a healthy, vibrant, beautiful life ahead, a life for which Jesus had already paid the price. So now we can say with confidence, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9. Karl is heaven bound!

Karl’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday October 17, 2026, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Avenue in Cedarburg. Karl’s family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, and at a reception to be held following the service. Final resting place Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cedarburg Lions Club, PO Box 754, Cedarburg, WI 53012. Online condolences can be forwarded to the family at www.eernissefuneralhome.com. The Eernisse Funeral Home-Michael Schramka Associate of Cedarburg, is assisting the family.
