Hokanson
March 15, 1942 – January 17, 2025
Karl E. Hokanson of Port Washington passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Kathy Hospice. He was 82 years old.
Karl was born on March 15, 1942, in Rockford, Illinois to the late Emil and Emily (Moeller) Hokanson. He graduated from Nicolet High School with the class of 1960. After high school he attended Miami University where he attained his architectural bachelor's degree in environmental design in 1965.
On December 28, 1971, Karl was united in marriage to Maureen Walsh, at Saint Peters Church in Port Washington. They spent over 30 years together. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2005.
Karl was as passionate about photography as he was about architecture. Throughout his life, he captured dynamic moments in sports that earned him awards both locally and internationally. His keen eye and unyielding enthusiasm made him a respected member of the Menominee Falls Camera Club and a frequent presence at Road America, where he shared his love for both sports and photography with fellow enthusiasts. An avid bicyclist, Karl found joy in exploring the great outdoors.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son Shawn (Elizabeth Jost) Hokanson, his siblings Kris (Sally) Hokanson, Kristina Hokanson, Karen (Bob) Miller and Kathy (Dave) Terry, his goddaughter Erica Walsh-Trice, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and lots of friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Froedtert Cancer Center, especially Dr. Abedin and his team along with the West Bend Cancer Center. The nurses and staff at Kathy Hospice for their care and support during this time.
