Joyce L. Wood passed away on October 16, 2020. She was 70 years old. Joyce was born in Port Washington, Wisconsin on April 5, 1950, the daughter of Alvin and Barbara (nee Jacoby) Schommer. Joyce was a selfless woman, always putting others before herself. She was thoughtful and compassionate to those around her and loved being a mom and grandma. Bird watching and spending time in the dirt while working in the flower or vegetable gardens was where Joyce could be found if she were not on the pontoon boat, fishing with her husband, Ernie. Joyce is survived by her husband, Ernie Wood, sons: Christian (Mari) and Eric (Janelle) Wood, grandchildren: Justus, Holden, Edward, Abbie, Charles, Andersen, and Joseph, siblings: Janice (special friend, Jim LaHaie) Kowalczyk, Richard (Pamela) Schommer, Marlene (Jay) Bretschneider, Donna (Michael) Kultgen and Lori (Bill) Schmit. Joyce is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Service will be held at Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 West Grand Avenue Port Washington, WI 53074 on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 6:30 PM. Joyce's family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM until the time of service at 6:30 PM.
