JOYCE A. SCHMIT Mrs. Joyce Schmit of Garfield Ave. in Port Washington passed away Saturday evening February 2 2013 at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton while surrounded by her family. She was 72 years old. Joyce was born on March 1 1940 daughter of Fred and Elsie Wetor Schueller. The family lived in Holy Cross and Joyce attended Port Washington High School graduating with the Class in 1958. On September 17 1960 she was united in marriage with Vernon Schmit at Holy Cross Catholic Church in the Town of Belgium. The couple settled in Port Washington and raised their family. Vernon preceded her in death in 2009. Mrs. Schmit worked as a Nurses Aide at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington until she retired in 1991. Joyce was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Port Washington where she was a past member of the Christian Mother's was very involved in church activities and cut the veggies for many of the Fish Fry's and Dinners. She loved crocheting and had an extensive collection of yarn. Joyce is survived by her three children: Gary (Pamela) Schmit of Grand Prairie TX Beth (Frank) Hoppe of Waunakee and Steve (Amy Jo) Schmit of Random Lake. She is further survived by four grandchildren: Alicia (Aaron) Parris Garrick Schmit Gretchen Adam Hoppe 1 brother: Fred (Cecelia) Schueller Jr. of Holy Cross 2 sisters: Carol (the late Lyall) Flerchinger of Port Washington and Pearl (Thomas) Paradeis of Appleton brother-in-law Killian Burton of Belgium 2 sisters-in-law Bernice Schueller of Belgium and Ginny Schueller of Fredonia nieces nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband 3 brothers: John Robert and Ronald Butch Schueller and 2 sisters: Doris (the late Jack) Gahan and Mildred Burton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Wednesday February 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. Father Thomas Lijewski will preside. She will be laid beside her husband in St. Mary's Cemetery Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave.Port Washington on Tuesday evening from 4:30-8PM and again on Wednesday morning from 10:30-11 AM at the CHURCH. Memorials in Joyce's name may be made to St. Mary's Parish.
