Mequon – Joy Duquette Engroff, a beloved and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday October 11, 2024, at the age of 82.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 20, 1942, Joy was lovingly raised by her parents, Walter and June. After graduating Winchester Thurston School, Joy attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL graduating with her bachelor's degree. She then attended the University of Michigan where she earned her master's in education. Joy started her teaching career at Richards School in Whitefish Bay, WI and taught for several years before she found her true calling of President, CEO, and COO of the Engroff family.

Joy married Scott Engroff on June 15, 1963. They were blessed with three children and filled their home with unconditional love, patience, compassion, and mental toughness. She was most proud of her family, and her life's work culminated in 3 children and 8 grandchildren.

While most of her time was dedicated to her family, Joy had an unending passion for learning, teaching, and giving. She was highly involved with her children and grandchildren in all aspects of their education. Joy actively participated in the PTA, Service Club of Milwaukee, and Junior League of Milwaukee. Joy loved introducing her children and grandchildren to all life had to offer and supported them throughout their many pursuits.

While it is impossible to list out all her activities, below are a couple of her favorites. Ozaukee Country Club Junior Golf scorekeeper and lead Ozaukee Country Club swim team driver and cheerleader. She Volunteered at the University School of Milwaukee parent association and was the lead chairwoman for the USM Holiday Shops. Joy helped start the Mequon Soccer Club and quickly became the most recognized and best soccer mom to hundreds of players throughout the years. This passion continued for over 35 years supporting her children, grandchildren, and their teammates. In her limited downtime, Joy loved to read books and watch movies. Joy attended the Telluride Film Festival every year and had an uncanny ability to pick the Academy Award Best Picture winner year over year. Joy often stayed up late into the night reading and finishing her latest thriller book.

Joy's memory will be cherished by her husband Scott Sr., her children Missy (Tim McLeod) Engroff, Scott (Tina) Engroff, and Mike Engroff; grandchildren Jourdyn Engroff, Ciana Engroff, Griffin Engroff, Brayden Engroff, Holden Engroff, Savanna Engroff, Ella Engroff and James Engroff.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Ozaukee Country Club in Mequon, 10823 N. River Rd. Mequon, WI 53092 on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 11am – 3pm.
