JOSEPH J. MATOUS Mr. Joe Matous formerly of Port Washington passed away at Heritage Nursing Home and Rehabilitation facility on Friday morning March 28 2014. He was 76 years old. Joseph was born in Pittsburgh PA on July 10 1937 son of Joseph and Anna Lawrence Matous. He attended local schools and graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Chemistry. Joe proudly served his country in both the US Army and the US Air Force Reserves. On August 20 1966 he was united in marriage with Margaret Marge Jacobs in Pittsburgh. The couple settled in the area and started their family. In 1976 the family moved to Port Washington after Joe took a position with Freeman Chemical. He was there more than twenty years and then took a chemical sales position with Byk-Chemie a German company based out of Connecticut. He retired in 2003. Joe and Marge moved to Cedarburg for a short while and then to Grafton in 2013. Mr. Matous was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington. To Joe family was everything. He enjoyed trips to the casino with his wife watching his grandchildren at their sports and extra-curricular activities and had an active interest in military history. He is survived by his wife of 47 years and best friend Marge of Grafton and their four children: Chriss (Shane) Murphy Janet (Mark) Jeske both of Cedarburg David (Vicky) Matous of Port Washington and Richard (Betsy) Matous of Saukville. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren: Kyle Kendra Kalli Murphy Tyler Alison Jeske Kaitlyne Gabbie Sydney Matous and Weston Everett Matous sisters Joan Doyle of Watertown and Mary Anne Walsh of Newport Beach CA nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Tom Doyle. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6PM on Thursday at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church 1800 N. Wisconsin St. Port Washington. Fr. Pat Wendt will preside. He will be placed in St. Mary's Mausoleum the following day. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Thursday from 4:30-6PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army or the Lewy Body Dementia Foundation. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Hospice Advantage and at Heritage Nursing Home for the loving and compassionate care given to Joe during his time with them.
