Joseph A. Buechler Mr. Joseph A. Buechler age 81 years of rural Belgium passed away in the early morning hours on Saturday May 24 2003 at Columbia St. Mary's Ozaukee Campus in Mequon. He was born at Six Corners WI November 30 1921 son of the late Gottfried and Lucy Ott Buechler. On April 7 1945 he married Leona Bares at Holy Cross Catholic Church. She preceded him in death in 1993. Joe was the milkman in Belgium for Wayside Dairy for many years. He was one of the original co-founders of the Belgium Community Center and managed it until the mid-1970's. Joe enjoyed assisting families with their special events held at the Center. Mr. Buechler derived much pleasure from all the people he met while working for Lueptow's Furniture Store and Appleland Orchards. He was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross a 50 year member of the Catholic Knights the Holy Name Society and also belonged to the Belgium Senior Citizens. Joe enjoyed playing sheepshead hunting and gardening - and giving all of his produce away. He devoted much of his time to helping care for and visiting the sick and elderly. He is survived by his daughter Mary E. (David) Schimberg of Belgium three grandchildren Melissa (Mark) Reddy of Riverdale MD and Jacalyn and Ryan Schimberg of Belgium. He is further survived by 1 sister Sylvia Ternes of Six Corners sisters-in-law brothers-in-law nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife 3 brothers Edward Artur and Frank Buechler and 2 sisters Leona Stauber and Verona Schaller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father James Ernster on Thursday May 29 2003 at 10:00 AM at Holy Rosary Parish Holy Cross Chapel in Holy Cross. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the Eernisse Funeral Home 171 N. Royal Avenue Belgium on Wednesday May 28 from 4-8 PM and Thursday from 8:30-9:30 AM. A parish vigil service will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
