John A. Thurke John Thurke age 55 years of West Bend passed away suddenly in the afternoon of Thursday April 17 2008 at his residence. John was born in Racine on November 14 1952 son of Edward and Marion Ritger Thurke. He attended school in the Kewaskum area graduating from Kewaskum High School in 1971. Mr. Thurke worked as an installer for Tri-County Office Supply and later Emmens-Napp Co. On June 17 2005 he married Carol Frier at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. John was a member of Holy Angels Parish the Catholic Knights the St. Joseph's Aid Society and the Kewaskum Historical Society. He also enjoyed volunteering his time with the West Bend Police Department being active in their Crime Prevention Unit and also volunteered at Cedar Bay. John's other enjoyment was collecting John Deere Tractor memorabilia and also police department patches and hats. Mr. Thurke is survived by his wife Carol children Janet (Jay) Stammer of Lakefield MN Janice Godard of Aurora CO Victor Godard of Waupun WI Michael (Michelle) Godard of Semora NC and Scott (Dawn) Johnson of Grafton WI. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren 1 brother Alfred Thurke 1 sister Laura Nigh both of West Bend other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday April 21st at 7 PM at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend with Father Rick Wendell officiating. Burial will take place at Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the Church on Monday April 21st from 5 PM until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the Crime Prevention Unit of the West Bend Police Dept. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is assisting the family.
