IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Lance
Staton
March 29, 1959 – December 11, 2023
John L. Staton, of Cedarburg, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at his residence with his loving wife by his side. He was 64 years old.
He was born on March 29, 1959, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Sam and Lois (Kafehl) Staton. His parents moved their family to Cedarburg in the 1960's. He was a proud graduate of Port Washington High School with the class of 1976. John enlisted in the United States Army in 1977 and served until 1982. Later in life John got an associate degree at MATC in business.
John was a member of Saukville American Legion Landt- Thiel Post 470 and served as Post commander for two years. (Being a member of the United States honor guard was one of Johns greatest prides.) You could always find him involved with the youth, presenting scholarships, making speeches at the local schools and much more. He enjoyed being part of parades and special events for the veterans with the Legion Riders. In recent years he helped the 4H with their rifle and archery programs. John was very proud of being a member of the Legion Honor Guard.
He was a great artist, from drawing cartoons as a teenager to his great skill with an airbrush. He enjoyed restoring motorcycles and boats; seeing the look on people's faces when they saw the final product brought him great joy. Many of his family and friends were the recipients of his great talents over the years.
John will be remembered by his wife Judy, his son Lance Staton, his parents, his siblings; Pam Ferranio, Dan (Tami) Staton, Bruce (Patty) Staton and Laura (Dave) Jones and sister-in-law Megan Staton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his brother Roger, Grandma Kafehl, Uncle Don, Aunt Rita, and his cousin SuSu.
The family will greet friends and family on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 West Grand Ave, Port Washington, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. John will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Saukville at a later date.
