John E. Johnson, Jr. "Jack"
John "Jack" Johnson, of Port Washington, passed away peacefully at Heritage Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center where he had been a resident. He was 83 years old.
Jack was born in Chicago on December 10, 1933, son of John E. Johnson, Sr. and Violet Grunland Johnson. Jack grew up in Chicago, graduating from South Shore High School in 1952. He then attended the University of Colorado-Boulder where he spent seven happy years getting a degree in real estate. While at school, Jack became a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After graduation, he returned to Chicago to work at his family's real estate business.
Jack always had a love for the arts, and after many years selling real estate, he decided to start a career as a painter. In 1981, Jack and his partner, George Rosinski, moved to Port Washington. In 1995, Jack and George's love of music lead them to start Port Classical & Jazz Records, a vinyl record mail-order business. Jack also loved watching and collecting movies, was an avid reader, and was a "stereophile".
Jack is survived by his partner George of Port Washington, his brother James (Winifred) Johnson of Vernon Hills, IL and their children Christopher and Lauren, his sister Karen (the late William) Piggott of Surprise, AZ and her children Kristen Pierson and William Piggott, Jr. He is further survived by his great-nieces Annabelle, Bessie, and Emily, other relatives and friends.
