John G. Steffen of Cedar Grove, 92, was born to eternal life on January 3, 2018. He was born in Fredonia, WI to Lawrence and Alice (nee Gilson) Steffen on December 21, 1925. He married the late Regina Weber on October 23, 1946 in Dimock, SD and together they had 5 sons. John was a long time and active member of St. Nicholas Parish, Dacada. He was an avid golfer who golfed with his wife at Crystal Lake Golf Course daily in their retirement and helped teach his sons and grandchildren the game. He enjoyed Wisconsin sports (at all levels) and supported his grandchildren in their athletic endeavors. He loved breakfast at both Mary's Country Grove Restaurant and Hobo's Restaurant. John is survived by his sons, Jim (Bonnie) of Random Lake, John (Cindy) of Cedarburg, Jeff (Ann) of Cedar Grove and Jay (Lynda) of Sheboygan, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter. John is further survived by his daughter-in-law Gloria; brother-in-law Fran (Joan) Weber; sisters-in-law, Selma Weber and Bernice Steffen, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Regina, his son Joel; one grandson, three great-grandchildren; brothers, Phil and Robert Steffen; sister-in-law, Ruth Steffen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, St. Nicholas Chapel, Dacada (W4274 Co Hwy K,) with Fr. Richard Cerpich presiding. Visitation will be at the CHURCH from 10:00AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Belgium.
