The world feels a little quieter and seems a little less colorful today. On September 10, 2026, we said goodbye to John P. Fischer, known to many as JP or Johnny — a man whose presence filled every room with warmth, humor, and smart aleck remarks. He lived his life the way he taught others to live theirs: with generosity, curiosity, a fierce love for continuing to learn and a determination to do what was right.

Born in Denver, Colorado on May 11, 1965. John grew up with a deep and lasting love for history. He carried that curiosity throughout his life, always wanting to understand where things came from, how people lived, and what stories shaped the world. It was one of the many ways he connected with others, especially his children. Through the past, through stories, through the things that mattered. He loved sharing stories with his children about his life experiences when he was the same age as them.

He loved fishing, on the lake with family and friends. He was always so proud of his catches. The best part of a lazy day for him was watching the History Channel or Crime Network. The Unexplained, Ancient Aliens, and Joe Kenda Homicide Hunter were among some of his favorites. He was always intrigued by the mysteries and solving the crimes. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, making his children laugh, small family barbecues, and the everyday ordinary moments that made life worth living. He loved fiercely and without hesitation. And he taught us through his actions more than his words, what it means to show up for the people you love. John was always a loving father even to the friends of his children. Everyone called him Dad.

He leaves behind his children Chandler, Tabitha and Elijah, who will carry his humor, his lessons, his stubbornness and his love forward.

A gathering to honor his life will take place from 10AM to 11AM on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Eernisse Funeral Home in Belgium (171 N. Royal Ave. Belgium, WI 53004). Following the gathering, there will be a service to honor John at 11AM. John will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery- Lake Church.
