John Birenbaum of Random Lake, age 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. He was born on August 5, 1950, the son of Joseph Birenbaum and Beatrice (nee Schueller) Birenbaum. He was a 1968 graduate of Random Lake High School. He married Marilyn (nee Bauch) Ninneman on November 28, 1981.
John liked staying close to home. He worked at the Krier Preserving Company for over 20 years and then at Times Printing for over 20 years. John took his religion very seriously and was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes- St. Mary's Chapel in Random Lake for his entire lifetime. He was also a member of their Holy Name Society and The Catholic Order of Foresters.
John was a very handy man; he worked in maintenance all his life. He was good at solving problems and could fix anything that was given to him. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, putting jigsaw puzzles together and playing with his Border Collies. His dry sense of humor was enjoyed by everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Random Lake, his brothers and sisters: Peter (Janice) Birenbaum and Joseph, both of Random Lake, Kathleen Schmidt and Sue Ann (Joseph) Johannes, both of Cedar Grove, Thomas (Donna) Birenbaum of Fredonia, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law John "Jack" Schmidt.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lakes, St. Mary's Chapel, 230 Butler Street, Random Lake. Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Don Thimm. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday, March 15th, from 10AM until Mass begins at 12 noon. John wll be laid to rest in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of the Lakes Parish.
