IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John A.
Von Bon
June 14, 1953 – March 20, 2026
John Aloysius Von Bon, of Mequon, Wisconsin, ascended into the arms of his Savior on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the age of 72. He was born in Red Oak, Iowa, on June 14, 1953, to the late John Joseph Von Bon and Caroline Cecila Miller.
John married the love of his life, Brooke Wanamaker, on December 27, 1979, and they shared over 46 years of wedded bliss.
John excelled academically, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Northwest Missouri State University in 1975. His mathematical prowess allowed him higher roles with multiple Fortune 500 companies, including Rite Aid Inc in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and Roundys Inc Corporate Headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 2004 as an Executive Category Manager until his retirement.
Throughout his life, John nurtured his passion for music, in high school playing the tuba in his hometown parades and marching formations during football games. One could easily find him singing along in the car to many popular tunes from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. At his core he enjoyed making memories with his wife, son, and extended family. Golf was a frequent hobby he played with family and friends. Weekends in the 80’s & 90’s often saw him casting the rod and reel for bass always seeking “the big one”. Later in life, he developed a keen interest in poker. John was an avid reader of history, particularly the Civil War, and visited historical sites such as Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Traveling the country for family road trips, seeking memorable vacation destinations, and exploring historical buildings and monuments across the nation were cherished pastimes.
John dedicated his time, resources, and goods to serving his community, as well as giving to meaningful charities. He actively participated in the liturgy of Sunday Masses at Lumen Christi Parish and eventually attained the First Degree Knighthood in the Knights of Columbus.
John Aloysius Von Bon was preceded in death by his biological parents, John Joseph Von Bon and Caroline Cecila Miller, and his stepmother, Doris Walford. He is survived by his spouse, Brooke Von Bon, of Mequon, Wisconsin; his son, Brendan John Von Bon, of Westminster, Colorado; his brother, Gene Von Bon, of Pensacola, Florida; his brother, Tim Von Bon, and his spouse, Jill, of South Ogden, Utah; and his brother, Robert Von Bon, and his spouse, Elaine, of Bloomfield, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00pm on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2750 W. Mequon Rd., Mequon, WI 53092. The family will receive friends and family at the church in a time of visitation from 12:00-1:00pm.
