Jo Johnson
Jo Johnson, of Mequon, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 21, 2016. She was 62 years old. Jo was born in Port Washington on August 10, 1953, daughter of Jerome Schwabenlender and Margaret Schomisch Schwabenlender. Jo grew up in Belgium, graduating from Cedar Grove High School in 1971. After high school, Jo earned her Bachelors of Arts from the University of Wisconsin Madison. On August 18, 1979 she married the love of her life, Mark Johnson, at St. Robert's Catholic Church in Shorewood. The couple lived on the east side of Milwaukee until moving to Mequon in 2000. She was the Director of Human Resources for Bentley World Packaging in Milwaukee.
Jo loved life! Everything she did was with a big heart full of love. Jo was a member of the Heiliger Huegel Ski Club, Elite Tennis Club and a former member of the National Ski Patrol. Jo organized most of her activities around her family. She planned everything for her family and friends and was the glue that held them together. She enjoyed music and mixing together music CD's for family and friends. She loved taking photographs of family and friends and displaying them around her home and printing them in coffee table books. She decorated and displayed modern art around her home, her office and the family ski house at Indianhead Mountain in Michigan. Jo loved playing with her grandchildren. From cooking chocolate chip pancakes to making blanket forts and bubble bath swimming, she was the number one "Grammy". Jo enjoyed dogs, flowers and gardening, and organizing vacation trips with her family. She was also the ultimate soccer mom, never missing a game.
Jo is survived by her husband Mark and her two children Morgan (Mike) Schlender and Reid (Lindsay) Johnson. She is further survived by two grandchildren Grayson and Mya, her mother Margaret Schwabenlender, five siblings: Nancy Opitz, Kay (Tracy) Van Den Berg, Ruth (Jeff) Dudarenke, James (Mari) Schwabenlender and David (Sherry) Schwabenlender, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. She is preceded in death by her father Jerome.
