Mrs. Jan Badtke of Port Washington, formerly of Sheboygan and Sun City Center, Florida, passed away at her home Saturday evening, December 15, 2018, while surrounded by her family. She was 87 years old.
Jan was born in Cato, WI on November 7, 1931, daughter of Raymond and Edna Schultz Schwoerer. The family moved to Sheboygan while she was young and Jan attended local schools, graduating from Sheboygan Central High School.
While rollerskating one day, she met a young man who knocked her off her feet; Jan was united in marriage with William Badtke on May 10, 1952 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan. The couple settled in Sheboygan and raised their family. Jan was an essential part of the family business, keeping the books for Badtke Automotive Service for almost 30 years.
Jan and Bill enjoyed boating, traveling the world and golfing, but above all loved dancing together. Mrs. Badtke was a member of St. John XXIII Catholic Church in Port Washington.
She is survived by her husband Bill and their children Cheryl (the late Dale) Behrens of Port Washington, Renee (the late Robert) Pytel of Redford, MI and Michael Badtke. She is further survived by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, son-in-law David (Rosemary) Bartel of Chilton, other family and friends. Jan is preceded in death by her daughter Donna Bartel, one brother and three sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1PM on Saturday, December 22 at St. John XXIII Parish – St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. The family will receive visitors at CHURCH on Saturday from 12-1PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Aurora Home Hospice.
