Jean E. Smith, 94, of Fredonia, Wisconsin, entered into eternal life on June 19, 2026.

She was born in Highland Park, IL in 1932 to Charles and Sophie Pantle. Jean attended Highland Park High School. She met and married Charles Smith in 1959. She worked various careers, including owning and running the Pelican Restaurant, but her true passion was being a loving wife and a devoted mother to her five sons. She enjoyed gardening and helped her brother Howard Pantle at the Pioneer Greenhouse in Fredonia.

Jean was preceded in death by many loved ones: her parents; her husband Charles; her sister Bernice Sjoberg; her brothers Gilbert, Willard, Alvin, Charles, and Howard; her sons, Alan Silva and Jack Smith, and grandson Jason Smith.

She is survived by her brother Kenneth Pantle of Hawthorn Woods, IL, her sons Daniel Smith (Vickie) of Port Charlotte, FL, David Smith, and Michael Smith (Elizabeth) of Fredonia as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchild, and many nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Life is on Friday, July 3rd at Eernisse Funeral Home in Belgium, WI (171 N. Royal Ave. Belgium, WI 53004). Visitation is from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. with a short service to follow.
