Mrs. Jean Huiras of Random Lake passed away Thursday evening, August 30, 2018 in Fond du Lac following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 71 years old. Jean was born in Sheboygan on June 21, 1947, daughter of John and Elizabeth Dieringer Murphy. She grew up in the Hingham area and attended local schools, graduating from Random Lake High School, Class of 1965. On June 19, 1965 she was united in marriage with James Huiras at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Adell. The couple settled in Random Lake and raised their family. Jean was employed as a cook in the Food Service department of Random Lake School District for over thirty years, retiring in 2009. She was an excellent cook, earning two Betty Crocker awards in her lifetime. Her family will miss favorites such as German potato salad, lemon meringue pie and apple kuchen, as well as her angel food candy and strawberry jam... she could even make liver taste good! Jean also enjoyed turkey hunting, perch fishing, tending to her flower garden and taking care of her family. Survivors include her husband Jim of Random Lake, and their children Jimmy R. (Lori) Huiras of Adell and Brenda (Robert) Grass of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by four grandchildren: Hunter, Savannah, Calvin and Lauren, sister Mary Stangler of Florida, brother Patrick (Marie) Murphy of Potomac, MD, sister-in-law Mary Murphy of Waldo, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Norbert Murphy. A Memorial Mass will be held at 5PM on Tuesday, September 4, at Our Lady of the Lakes- St. Mary Chapel, 300 Butler Street, Random Lake. Father Richard Cerpich will preside. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 2:30PM until 4:45PM. Memorials, if desired, are suggested to the Our Lady of the Lakes Parish Decoration Fund.
