IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jay L.
Grieger
December 28, 1950 – December 24, 2025
It is with deep sadness that the family of Jay L. Grieger, of Cedarburg, announce his unexpected passing on December 24, 2025, at the age of 74.
Jay was born on December 28, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the beloved son of Claude and Marie (Neuswirth) Grieger. On June 8, 1999, he married Gail Andress, and together they blended their families, building lasting bonds and treasured memories.
Jay devoted much of his life to education, serving for many years as a coach, teacher, athletic director, and high school principal. He cared deeply about students and believed in the value of teamwork, discipline, and encouragement—both in the classroom and through athletics. Jay's administrative career included serving as Athletic Director and Principal for the Arrowhead School District and Principal of Cedarburg High School. After retiring from education, he worked at Hawthorne Hills Golf Course, combining his love of sports with his outgoing personality.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Jay especially loved Wisconsin sports and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on. His greatest joy came from watching his children—and later his grandchildren—participate in their games, activities, and pursuits. Jay also enjoyed listening to music, biking, spending time in the kitchen cooking and trying new recipes, and going on rides in his Corvette with his wife. Jay enjoyed "snowbirding" in Florida, playing bocce and sharing those simple pleasures with family and friends.
Jay's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him best. He is survived by his devoted wife, Gail; his loving children, Jeff (Katie) Grieger, Stephanie (Nick) Lehouillier, David Latsch, and Patrick Latsch; his adored grandchildren, Elliot, Charlotte, Ian, and Leo. He is further survived by his loving stepmother Gloria Grieger; his brother Scott (Cynthia) Grieger; sisters Kelly (Gene) Snyder and Kristy (John) Pralle; his four-legged best companion Anna; along with other relatives and many dear friends. Jay was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 10:00am-1:00pm at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg, WI 53074. Service to follow at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Jay's life and commitment to education, the family requests you consider a donation to the Cedarburg Community Scholarship Fund.
