Janice M. "Jan" Wolff of Grafton, Wisconsin, passed away Friday morning, January 26, 2018, at her home at the age of 70. She was born to Norman and Eleanor (nee Kipping) Haelfrisch on November 5, 1947, in Manitowoc. She married her best friend Dennis Wolff on December 26, 1987, in Milwaukee at the Justice of the Peace. During the summer of 1988, Dennis and Jan hosted a summer wedding celebration in their backyard to share their love for one another with family and friends.
Jan had been a trendy hairdresser for 48 years in Whitefish Bay and Shorewood. When she retired from being a hairdresser, she became a customer service manager at Walmart for several years, then completed her career at BMO Harris as a bank teller. Jan truly enjoyed working and being involved in her community. She had many friends and her only enemy was her cancer.
Jan will always be remembered for her love of cats and dogs; she bred and raised Old English sheepdogs. She traveled all over the United States showing her dogs and won a national title in Pennsylvania. Jan also enjoyed the outdoors. An avid gardener, she was often seen tending to her flowers. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren, four-wheeling, playing board games, showing them off to her coworkers, and taking long walks together. Often she traveled to Connecticut, Nevada, and Vermont for downhill skiing. She shared her passion for skiing with her niece and nephew. Jan and Dennis each had their own motorcycle, and they cycled throughout the Midwest and traveled through Europe as well.
Spring meant one thing to Jan: "Brewer Fever." Decked out in the team's colors, she cheered on the Brew Crew at Miller Park with her family and friends. She treasured the Haelfrisch family reunion her brother Wally organized every July at the stadium, where the whole family tailgated, sharing laughs and making great memories. When she wasn't at a game or watching it on TV, she loved hearing Bob Uecker make the calls on the radio while she gardened.
In the fall, Jan happily switched to the green and gold of the Packers. Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews were her favorites. She "assisted" Mike McCarthy by armchair coaching the Pack to regular season wins, plus the Super Bowl title. Jan brought a lot of positive energy for the love of the game. Her winning spirit will be greatly missed by all of us every season.
Jan is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 30 years, Dennis; mother Eleanor Haelfrisch, stepchildren Tyfani (Jeff) Ulicki and Dustin (Jessica) Wolff, grandchildren Thomas Ulicki and Taylor-Joette Ulicki, Erika Rooney, Alex Rooney, and Ion Rooney, siblings Patricia Shedal, Sharon (Merle) Aerts, Cynthia Frederick, Brian (Pauline) Haelfrisch, and Wallace Haelfrisch She is further survived by brother-in-law Donald (Jackie) Wolff; and sister-in-law Darlene "Lena" Burich, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Norman, siblings Gary Haelfrisch and Carol Lutterman , and brothers-in-law Bernard Shedal, John Frederick, and Don Burich.
