Mrs. Janice Church of Glendale found peace Sunday morning, March 17, 2019 in Mequon, WI. She was 80 years old. Janice was born in Findley, Ohio on June 22, 1938, daughter of Russell M. and Enid Benson Wiseman. She grew up in Mentor, OH and graduated from Mentor High School. Janice graduated with bachelor of arts degree from Lake Erie College for Women. She held various roles in her professional life but is most associated with her work in the fine arts including a role as the Director of Fine Arts at the Western Reserve Fine Arts Association in Madison, OH. She was married to Rev. William Church on June 6, 1986. Janice loved helping Bill with his ministry as a United Methodist pastor. The couple served many different communities in the East Ohio Conference. After retirement they moved to Wisconsin in 2013, and joined the Mequon United Methodist Church. They currently served the congregation at Our Lords United Methodist Church in New Berlin where Bill is interim pastor. Mrs. Church loved music and played piano, organ, and clarinet. She also enjoyed singing and was a talented decorative artist.
She is survived by her husband William, a resident of Glendale, son David Ferguson of Chicago, grandchildren Evan Ferguson and Abigail Ferguson, both of Texas. She is further survived by her brother and sister-in-law Russell and Debbie Wiseman and two nieces, Lesley and Sarah. Janice is preceded in death by her son Thomas R. Ferguson, and her parents Russell and Enid Wiseman.
Funeral Services will take place at 3PM on Wednesday, March 20th at Mequon United Methodist Church, 11011 N. Oriole Lane, Mequon. Pastor Sue Lee will preside. The family will receive visitors at the Church on Wednesday from 1:30PM until services at 3PM. Janice will be laid to rest in Immanuel Cemetery.
