Obituary

Janet Joan Meyle, of Port Washington, went to walk with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the age of 81. Jan was born in Plymouth, WI on June 19, 1940, daughter of Donald Sieber and Helen Bonn Sieber. She grew up in Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1958. After high school she attended Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN where she earned a bachelor's degree in biology, and then went on to earn a master's degree in microbiology from the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago. Jan was a lifelong student and eventually earned a third degree in medical technology from the University of Wisconsin Parkside. While at Valparaiso, she met Rev. Roland Meyle, and they were married on June 8, 1963, in Plymouth, WI. Roland received his first pastoral call to St. James Lutheran Church and the couple moved to Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada, where two of their three children were born, Anita and Karl. In 1967, Roland took a call to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Union Grove, WI. The young family moved, and their youngest child, Kurt, was born. After 26 years of service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Roland received a call to the House of Prayer in Kazakhstan. Janet passionately supported Roland in his overseas mission work while remaining in Wisconsin to care for her mother and her aunt. Jan could always be found studying new topics - such as gardening and photography and participated in two book clubs. She was a dedicated and active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Washington, WI. She enjoyed biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, walking, hiking, swimming, and many other activities. She has touched the lives of so many people and truly poured out her love to them. She made "dates" with her grandchildren a priority and enjoyed recording them in photo albums. Every year she had the "Great Family Christmas Cookie Bake" and baked enough to share with her family and friends. She was a remarkable woman, and will be greatly missed. Jan is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roland of Port Washington, and her three children: Anita (Joe) Creswell of Appleton, Karl (Susan) Meyle of Deer Park, IL, and Kurt (Elsie) Meyle of Fredonia. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren: Evette, Nilsa, Christine, Martha, Kurt Jr., Mark, Sarah, Matthew, Tim, and Mia, nine great-grandchildren: Jeremiah, Thomas, Kylie, Lilyana, Daniel, Abigail, Nina, Evelyn, and Danny, three great-great-grandchildren: Camila, Nevaeh, and Ezra, other relatives, and many friends. Visitation for Jan will be held at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, on Friday, March 25th from 4 PM to 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:15 PM. A visitation will also take place on Saturday, March 26th at St. John's Lutheran Church, 217 N. Freeman Dr., Port Washington, from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 10:30 AM. Pastor Dustin Anderson will preside over the service. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lutheran Bible Translators, St. John's Lutheran Church, Port Washington, or LCMS World Relief & Human Care. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is honored to serve the family. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com
