IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James David
Scott
February 15, 1945 – August 8, 2023
James D. Scott (78) of Saukville, WI passed away on August 8, 2023, at Kathy Hospice in West Bend, WI. James, fondly known as Jim, was born to James P. and Evelyn A. Scott in Beloit, WI on February 15, 1945. Jim was raised in Marinette, WI and was the oldest of 4 sons.
Jim graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh with a degree in History. After graduating he married the love of his life Linda Juhl on May 3,1969. He then spent 4 years in the US Air Force as a combat photographer. His first assignment was in San Antonio, TX where Jim and Linda welcomed their first son Brett. Next assignment was Fairbanks, AK where they welcomed their second son, Ian. The family moved to Saukville, WI in 1977 where they raised both sons and it's where Linda still resides today.
Jim had a fulfilling career as a salesman in the packaging industry. He loved meeting new people and telling a good joke. He retired in 2012. Jim was a man of great faith and was very active at Grace Lutheran Church of Grafton, WI. He was a long-time member and held various positions within the church. He was an amateur writer and loved writing for the motorcycle magazine Free Riders Press, where his great story telling was enjoyed by many.
Jim had a great love for motorcycles even from a young age. He loved taking rides and working on his bike, including several cross-country tours. Jim was an avid outdoorsman where he loved to hunt and fish. Time spent up north with his family and friends and hunting with his sons and grandsons were some of the best times he has known. If he wasn't on his bike or in the woods, he was usually taking photographs, playing the guitar or harmonica in a band, or swinging his golf clubs with family and friends. Jim's greatest love of all was his wife, Linda. They were happily married for 53 years. They had amazing respect and love for one another. He said many times "I couldn't do it without her", and he was right. Jim reserved his last three words for Linda. A simple but true, "I love you". Jim was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and friend. He always made sure to go out of his way to make people feel accepted and included. He was kind, generous, funny and extremely humble. He loved spending time with family, grilling out in the summer, hunting in the fall and hosting Christmas Eve parties. To say he will be missed is more than an understatement. We are so very grateful for the wisdom and legacy he leaves behind for us all. Jim is survived by his wife Linda Scott, sons Brett Scott and Ian (Katie) Scott and grandchildren Evan Scott, Elliot Scott, Gavin Scott, Ethan Dorn, Halli Dorn, Logan Scott and Greta Scott. He is further survived by his brothers Tom (Suzanne) Scott, Bill (Darcy) Scott, Craig (Linda Briggs) Scott and other relatives.
