Obituary

James D. Schuette entered into Eternal Life on Thursday, June 18, 2026. He was 80 years old.

He was born on April 15, 1946, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to parents Erwin and Josephine (nee Graczykowski) Schuette. James attended Lincoln High School, graduating in 1965. Following high school, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam.

James was united in marriage to Nancy Engeldinger on May 30, 1969, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Together they raised two children.

James worked as a sheet metal welder at Manitowoc Co. and Heiden. He also helped his brothers build houses.

James was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and being in nature. He loved watching and supporting the Brewers, Bucks, Packers, and Badgers. In his later years, he lived with his daughter, Marcy, and enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs. He loved to watch or hear about his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by his son Eric Schuette, and daughter Marcy (Dennis) Johnson, grandchildren Austin and Hadley, and his brother Gregory (Jane) Schuette. He is also survived nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Schuette, parents, Erwin Sr. and Josephine Schuette; ten siblings, Nancy Lee, June Anthony, Mary Hebert, JoAnn Thom, Karen Tuschl, Jacqueline Schroeder, Erwin Schuette Jr., Jerome Schuette, Guy Schuette, and Robert Schuette.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice and his nurses Julie and Kayli.
