James Henry
Ruppel
December 10, 1950 – February 18, 2026
James Henry Ruppel of Cedarburg passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the age of 75. He was born in Racine on December 10, 1950, the beloved son of Henry and Marie (Nielson) Ruppel. Jim married the love of his life, Marvell Bregar, on May 26, 1973, in Milwaukee, and together they raised four beautiful children.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later worked at Rockwell Automation as an engineer and retired in 2016 after 31 years of dedicated service. Jim continued his work with veterans through AMVETS Post 60 in Oak Creek, where he served as Department Commander and held various positions at the state and local levels. He was currently serving as 2nd Vice, second-year Trustee, and appointed Post Editor. He was also a member of American Legion Peter Wollner Post 288.
Jim was an active father and committed community member, serving for many years as a church usher, Cub Scout leader, and member of the Cedarburg Emergency Government. He also enjoyed tending to his fish tank and cheering on the Brewers and Packers.
Jim’s memory will be cherished by those who knew him best. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marvell; loving children, Chad (Kelly) Ruppel, Quinn (Emily) Ruppel, Whitney (Pete) Betanzos, and Shaw Ruppel; adored grandchildren, Paige, Jordyn, Clay, Charlotte, Eli, and Ava Ruppel, and Emerson and Skye Betanzos; and his sister, Joann (Dale) Borusky. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marie Ruppel.
The Celebration of Life for Jim will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, W67 N622 Evergreen Blvd., Cedarburg, WI 53012. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Jim will be laid to rest at Wisconsin Memorial Park on Friday, February 27, 2026, with a final Committal Service, including Full Military Honors, at 11:00 a.m. at the Family Center.
