Obituary

James R. Wellenstein Jim Jim Wellenstein formerly of Lake Church Road in the Town of Belgium passed away Tuesday April 24 2012 at Belgium Gardens in Belgium. He was 90 years old. Jim was born June 8 1921 in the Town of Belgium son of Frank and Catherine Seiler Wellenstein. After attending grade school at St. Mary in the Town of Belgium and graduating from Port Washington High School Jim studied at Layton School of Arts in Milwaukee. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army. He followed the family tradition in building and construction working as a painter. Throughout his life Jim's artistic ability was exhibited through antiquing paintings and wood carvings. Jim was a life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church where he proudly sang with the choir for 30 years. He enjoyed singing playing the harmonica fishing going on numerous adventures with close friend Joe Pohl and traveling the countryside in a motor home with his sister and best friend Margaret Peg Wellenstein. Jim is survived by his sisters-in-law: Lucille Wellenstein of Glendale Luella Wellenstein of Grafton Gertrude Wellenstein of Wauwatosa and Clara Wellenstein of the Town of Belgium numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and many close friends. He is preceded in death by his sister Margaret Peg Wellenstein and brothers: Leo Lawrence Joseph Elmer John and Henry Wellenstein. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Friday April 27 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church with Father James Ernster officiating. He will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday morning from 9:30-10:30AM. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to The Discalced Carmelite Friars of Holy Hill Inc 1525 Carmel Road Hubertus WI 53033. The Eernisse Funeral Home Belgium is assisting the family with arrangements.
