Obituary

Mr. Jim Krier of Belgium passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. He was 63 years old. Jim was born in Port Washington on May 27, 1958, son of Herbert and Beatrice Wester Krier. He grew up in Belgium and attended local schools, graduating from Cedar Grove – Belgium High School, Class of '76. On August 24, 1979, Jim was united in marriage with Carol Hubing at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake Church. The couple settled in Belgium and raised their family. Jim was a proud owner of Krier Refrigeration. He worked with his father and brother, eventually taking over as they retired. His son Spencer joined them in the business as soon as he was big enough to lift a bag of ice, and continued to work by his side. Mr. Krier was a member of Divine Savior Parish. Jim loved scuba diving and dived locally for many years. The family often took vacations that centered around favorite dive spots. Jim loved nothing better than to spend time out in nature, walking by the quarry at Harrington Park or spending time in the pool with his grandson Gordon. He faithfully walked his granddogs Charlie and Axle every Sunday, rain or shine, often going on two or three mile adventures. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Carol, children Spencer of Cedar Grove and Olivia (Max) Gasser of the Town of Belgium, grandsons Gordon and Gus Gasser, brothers Michael (Judy) Krier and Patrick (Rhonda) Krier, both of Belgium, sisters Rosemary (the late Larry) Abts of Apache Junction, AZ and Ellen (Al) Feyereisen of Random Lake. He is further survived parents-in-law Gerald and Arlene Hubing of Belgium, brother-in-law Steve (Sue) Hubing of the Town of Belgium and sister-in-law Jane (John) Donald of Fredonia, many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and many friends. He is preceded in death by infant son Matthew, and parents Herb & Beatie Krier. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 29th from 3-6PM, followed by a prayer service at 6PM. Father Gideon Buya will preside. Jim will be laid to rest the following day beside his family at St. Mary Parish Cemetery in Lake Church. If desired, memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers.
