Obituary

Mr. James “Jim” Watry, 73, of Port Washington succumbed to his battle with diabetes and other health complications on Sunday evening, November 1, 2026, at 6 p.m. He passed peacefully at home while surrounded by his loving family. He would have celebrated his 74th birthday this Thursday, November 5th.

Jim Watry was born in Port Washington, Wis., on November 5, 1952, to Harold and Lorraine (nee. Melcher) Watry. Jim attended school in Port Washington and graduated from Port Washington High School with the Class of 1971. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Buser on April 22, 1978, at Divine Savior - Holy Cross Chapel in Belgium and together raised 4 beautiful children.

Jim went right into the workforce out of high school, working for Mercury Marine as a machinist before being forced to retire early due to health complications. He also worked as a cook at Nisleit’s restaurant.

Before these health complications, Jim loved to spend time with his family at his cabin, the community pool and in the kitchen. During his retirement, he enjoyed cooking, baking, making music with his guitar and drums, and spending time with family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Evelyn Watry (nee. Buser), siblings Mike (Charlene) Watry, Dan (Cheryl) Watry, Larry (Aggie) Watry, Bobby (Rhonda) Watry and Billy (Jen) Watry; children John (Jennifer) Watry, Sarah Watry and Aaron Watry; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many more friends and family.

He was preceded in death by parents Harold and Lorraine Watry, siblings Donald, Earl and Jennie and son Jeffrey Watry.

Jim’s funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, WI 53024. Fr. Matthew Kirk will preside.
