Mr. James Heiser of Port Washington passed away Monday morning, September 14, 2020 at the age of 89 years.
Jim was born in Milwaukee on August 11, 1931, son of Douglas and Virginia Glas Heiser. He grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Port Washington High School with the Class of 1950. After high school Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force. On September 29, 1956 James was united in marriage with Ruth Mueller at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. The couple settled in Port Washington and raised their family. She preceded him in death in 2018.
Jim was an independent agent for Prudential Life Insurance for over 30 years, and had also worked part time at Lasata Heights in the maintenance department. He was a long-time member of St. John XXIII Parish, attending St. Mary's Church with his family for many years, and attending St Peter's Church more recently. Mr. Heiser was also a member of American Legion Post 82. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing, travel, cruises, going on the occasional casino trip with Ruthie, and motorcycles.
Jim is survived by their six children; Amy (Dean) DeBroux of Fort Myers, FL, Mary Sue (Roland) Klotz of Menomonee Falls, Patti (Jeff) Scholten of Lakeville, MN, Kathy (Paul) Rismeyer of Port Washington, Teri (Jerry) Weiss of Port Washington and Tom (Sandy) Heiser of Meridian, MS. He is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 (and one soon-to-arrive) great-grandchildren, sister Judith "Judy Mae" (the late Roger) Mueller of Fort Atkinson, sisters- and brothers-in-law Marilyn (Bob) Jacoby of Plymouth, Carol (Bill) Hiller of Hazelhurst, Richard (JoAnne) Mueller of Random Lake and Bill (Judy) Mueller of Silver Creek, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, grandchildren Angela Scholten and Adam Heiser, and sister Elizabeth Hespe.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, September 19th at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., in Port Washington from 11AM until services begin at 1PM. There will be a walk-through for American Legion Post 82 at 12:30PM. Funeral Services will take place at 1PM with Father Patrick Wendt presiding, followed by Military Honors. To comply with the statewide mandate, face masks will be required at the visitation and service. Service seating is limited to 50 people.
Jim will be laid to rest beside his wife in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Washington. Memorials are suggested to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, Alzheimer's Association or St. John XXIII Parish.
