James D. Gutzman, formerly of Milwaukee and San Diego, passed away Sunday evening, January 24, 2016 at his home in Port Washington. He was 69 years old. James was born June 26, 1946 in Port Washington, the son of Carl and Doris (nee Zitlow) Gutzman. He graduated from Port Washington High School in 1964. In 1983, he moved to San Diego where he worked as a carpenter and painter. He returned to Port Washington in 2009 to be closer to family. James had been a member of the Moose Lodge in California. An avid nature fan, James enjoyed fishing, and feeding the birds and squirrels. He was a handyman at heart, and could always be found putzing or fixing something. James is survived by his son Jason of Port Washington and three siblings: Jerry (Diana) Gutzman of Port Washington, Janis Barber of Port Washington and Janet Molitor of Juneau. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, great nephews and a great niece, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Carl Gutzman and Doris (Gordon) Scholz. Per James' wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
