IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James
Ellioff
June 24, 1940 – January 31, 2024
James "Jim" Ellioff of Cedar Grove, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the age of 83. He was born in Milwaukee to John Sr. and Josephine on June 24, 1940. Jim married the love of his life Christine on December 31, 1977.
Having lived his early years on a farm in northern Wisconsin, Jim developed a love for riding horses, a love he shared with his wife Christine, children, and grandchildren.
Jim was most passionate about spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed being a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and great-uncle. Though he was the master of power naps, often claiming to be "just resting [his] eyes," Jim was in his element when surrounded by family and friends, ever the social butterfly.
Many nights and weekends were spent "tinkering" on projects around the house; going to car shows and estate sales; and enjoying the outdoors camping, swimming, hiking, skiing and riding his bicycle. Even yard work could be enjoyable time outdoors so long as he could spend it driving around on the mower, carefully manicuring the lawn. He loved being behind the wheel. His classic Avanti was the most fun to drive, but in his later years he gladly settled for driving a Jeep and found many excuses for off-roading on the farm.
Jim took pride in being a Barber Stylist and running his own barbershop in Hales Corners, Avant Garde Barber Stylists, where he could ensure he would be close to home while his older children Kim and Jay were growing up. He tested the waters as a regional sales manager for Redken, but traveling took a toll on family time. Jim later transitioned to barbering part-time in order to be at home when their family grew with younger daughters Sara and Susan.
Jim often volunteered at the kids' school, working in the library or helping in the computer lab and classrooms, even substitute teaching when needed.
In 2004, when Jim and Christine found their farm, they knew it was their dream home, offering a quiet place to enjoy in their retirement years. The whole family is lucky to have created many memories there with Jim in the years since.
Jim's memory will be honored by his devoted wife Christine; children Jay (Cheryl) Ellioff, Sara (Timothy) Weiler, Susan (Randy) O'Brien; grandchildren Michelle Parnau (Clint Albert), Melissa Wolbach, Kaylin and Magan Ellioff, Trent and Lita Weiler, McKayla and Kieran O'Brien; ten great-grandchildren; many other family and friends.
His family finds comfort in knowing he has reunited in heaven with daughter Kim Staffin, other family and dear friends who have preceded him in death.
The family would like to thank the caring members of the Aurora at Home hospice team for their kindness and support.
A family celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association - Wisconsin Chapter https://www.alz.org/wi
