James Conery, of Port Washington, passed away surrounded by his loving family in the evening hours of Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Forest Haven Assisted Living in Fredonia. He was 87 years old.
Jim was born in Iron Mountain, MI on December 3, 1935, son of Albert and Ruby (nee King) Conery. He grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School with the class of 1954. After high school, Jim moved to Milwaukee. Jim enjoyed a long career of over 40 years as a machinist at Falk Corp. in Milwaukee. He also worked as a part-time truck driver for the Grober family (EKG) for over 60 years and felt they were more like family than employers.
On October 30, 1998, he married Peg Lade (nee Stratton) in Milwaukee.
Jim was a member of St. Francis Borgia Parish in Cedarburg. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, and was an avid reader.
Jim is survived by his wife Peg Lade, children Lori (Mike) Pohl and Gary Conery, and his stepdaughter Erin (Rob) Weileder. He is further survived by five grandchildren: Andy, Erich, Joe, Aidan, and Noah, five great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law Kay Conery, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Ruby, three brothers: Albert, Morris, and Mike Conery, and two sisters Bev Chartier, and Rita Hicks.
There will be a visitation for friends and family at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 10-11 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 AM.
Jim will be laid to rest at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery in Mequon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
