Obituary

James “Jim” Cole, of Port Washington, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center - Grafton. He was 71 years old.

Jim was born on May 26, 1954, in Carthage, New York, the son of Ronald and Jean (Conley) Cole. He was raised in Carthage and graduated from Augustinian Academy with the Class of 1972. On September 7, 1974, Jim was united in marriage with the love of his life, Darci Rice, at Carthage United Methodist Church. Together, they built a life grounded in love, partnership, and devotion. In 1982, they moved to Wisconsin, where they raised their family and created a home filled with warmth and lasting memories.

Jim dedicated his career to the field of chemistry, working at Freeman Chemical—later known as Cook Composites and Polymers—and subsequently at W.H. Brady Company. He took pride in his work and the contributions he made throughout his professional life.

Outside of his career, Jim found great joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, and some of his most cherished moments were spent with Darci, driving through the countryside and observing the beauty of local wildlife. Above all, Jim treasured time with his family. His quiet strength, steady presence, and deep love for those around him will be dearly missed.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife Darci, his two sons Cory (Heather) Cole and Kyle (Edith Juarez) Cole, and his cherished grandchildren, Declan and Brielle. He is further survived by his sister, Ella M (Phil) Tooly, his mother-in-law Joanne Spencer, his brother-in-law Donald Rice, sister-in-law Cindy Cole as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Jean; and his siblings, Cindy, Frederick, and Patrick.

A funeral service to honor Jim’s life will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with the service to follow at 11:00 AM.

The Eernisse Funeral Home of Port Washington is honored to serve the Cole family. Online condolences may be shared at www.eernissefuneralhome.com.
