Obituary

James B. Day 79 of Port Washington WI and formerly from Xenia and Dayton Ohio a loving husband father and grandfather passed away Friday June 22 2012 at Columbia St. Mary's Ozaukee hospital. Jim was born on November 18 1932 to Melva and Robert Day in Dayton Ohio. After graduating from Stivers High School he attended the University of Dayton as a member of the ROTC and graduated with a BA in Business. He proudly served his country in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant based in Manhattan KS and in post war Germany. After college Jim was united in marriage to Jeanne A. Day (nee Butts) on July 31 1954 in Dayton Ohio. When military service was completed Jim was employed as an Engineer at National Cash Register Co (NCR) for 23 years. Jim worked as an engineering consultant and was later employed at New Dimensions in Medicine (NDM) where he retired. Jim moved to Port Washington WI in 2006 and was a resident at Harbor Village. Throughout the years Jim enjoyed managing Little League baseball golfing fishing and rooting for the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals but in later life became an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. He always loved card games and was able to enjoy this pastime with friends as a resident of Harbor Village. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne of 44 years and his brothers John and Bob and brother-in-law Donald Butts. Jim is survived by his children Tim (Terie Leicht) Day of Fredonia WI Tony (Debbie Jones) Day of West Carrolton Ohio; 2 grandchildren; Stephanie Karcher of Long Beach CA and Scott Day of Beavercreek Ohio and great granddaughter Ella Karcher his brother and wife Edwin and Joyce Day of Englewood Ohio and sister-in-law Jan Butts of Medway Ohio and special friend Carol Rentzel of Port Washington WI. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Ozaukee St. Mary's Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Edalapour Dr Sanidas his PA Haley Meier and RN Jolene Rychtic. A memorial service in memory of Jim will be held at Harbor Village in Port Washington WI on Thursday June 28th at 6:00PM. Burial will take place at David's Cemetery in Dayton Ohio with a July date to be determined. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Ozaukee County Humane Society in Jim's name
