James A. Smithers Mr. Jim Smithers of Sheboygan formerly of Cedar Grove passed away Saturday morning October 20 2012 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. He was 73 years old. Jim was born May 5 1939 in Fond du Lac the son of James and Blanche Caird Smithers. After high school Jim earned his Bachelor's degree in Education at UW Oshkosh and his Master's degree in English. From 1967-1998 he taught English and American Literature at Cedar Grove-Belgium High School. He also was a substitute at Ozaukee High School. On June 3 1967 he was united in marriage with Mary Waldvogel at St. Phillips in Green Bay. She preceded him in death in 2004. Jim was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes St. Nicholas Chapel in Dacada. He loved cars collecting model cars and traveling. Jim is survived by his daughters Kim Smithers of Port Washington and Sally (Timothy) Marszalek of Oconomowoc. He is further survived by his sisters Bonnie Christ of Fond du Lac and Catherine Bowden of Topeka KA brothers-in-law Richard (Rosie) Waldvogel of Markasan and Philip (Debbie) Waldvogel of Beaver Dam other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6PM on Tuesday October 23 at Our Lady of the Lakes St. Nicholas Chapel W4274 Hwy K in Dacada with Father Richard Cerpich officiating. Inurnment will take place in St. Nicholas Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the church on Tuesday from 3-6PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested.
