Obituary

Mrs. Jackie Huybers of Port Washington passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls, while surrounded by her loving family. She was 76 years old.

Jacqulyn was born in Duluth, MN on May 4, 1948, the daughter of Elmer and Lois "Toots" (nee Doering) Jackson. She attended local schools and graduated from Marshall High School, Class of 1966. Shortly afterwards, Jackie moved to Los Angeles, CA where she began working as a switchboard operator in Hollywood. She moved to Milwaukee after accepting a position at Marcharnts, and later to Port Washington where she took on the challenging position of Dispatcher for the Ozaukee Sheriff Department in 1978, a position she held until she retired in 2008 following 27 years of faithful service.

On April 4, 1975, Jackie was united in marriage with James Huybers at Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend. The couple were blessed with one son, Jamie. James preceded Jackie in death in 2001.

Mrs. Huybers enjoyed volunteer work and a strong Christian lifestyle. She was an active member of St. Simon Episcopal Church in Port Washington, and a former member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. As a survivor of an aggressive cancer, Jackie found strength in being a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and frequently did cancer patient transport. She volunteered with Meals of Wheels for over 20 years, assisted with Red Cross blood drives for many years, and was a foster parent for cats through the Humane Society. In her down time Jackie was an avid reader and crafter, enjoyed trips to the casino or going on cruises with her friends, watching football or golf on TV, or watching movies with her long-time significant other, Mike Hess. Jackie always exuded energy and fun wherever she went.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jaime Huybers, of Fond du Lac, significant other Michael Hess of Port Washington, and sister-in-law Mary Jackson of Duluth, MN. Jackie is further survived by five nieces and nephews: Stacy Eibs, Sara (Jeff) Robinson, David (Angie) Kultgen, Emily Jackson (special friend Brandon Downs), and Michael Jackson (fiancée Madison Archer), five great-nieces & nephews: JJ, Andy, Jack, Georgia, and Mairead, daughters-of-the-heart Anna & Julie Hess, and honorary grandchildren Daniel Wollenzein and Odin Hameister.

Jackie is preceded in death by husband James Huybers, parents Elmer & Toots Jackson, sister Sue (the late Richard) Kultgen, brother Mick Jackson, nieces Trisha Jackson & Andrea Benson, and honorary grandson Jameson Hess.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at St. Simon Episcopal Church, 3448 Green Bay Rd., Port Washington. Fr. Julian Hills will preside the service. The family will receive guests at the church on Thursday, January 16th, from 10AM until services at 11AM.

NO FLOWERS PLEASE! If desired, memorials are strongly suggested to the Wisconsin Humane Society in Jackie's name.

The family would like to thank nurse Bre, and the entire staff of the IPU at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their care and compassion to Jackie, Mike, Jamie, and Jackie's family and friends.
