Obituary

Jacob "Jake" Alan Vnuk of Grafton, WI passed away unexpectedly in his home on Friday April 10th after receiving care from Kate Joy, Grafton EMS and Grafton police. The family is very appreciative of their efforts. Jacob was born on May 29, 1976, in Missoula, Montana, son of (Ret) Col. Richard Vnuk (Pamela) and Martha (nee Hendrick) Bonk (Robert). He was the first-born grandchild on both sides, making it easy to get spoiled. Jake grew up in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and finally Wisconsin. Upon moving to Wisconsin in 1992, he began school at Brown Deer High School. There he played football his freshman year, but really found his niche as a sophomore playing soccer. That year his soccer team won the WIAA Wisconsin State Championship, Division 2. Most importantly Brown Deer High School is where he made many lifelong best friends. He later attended college at UW-Milwaukee. Jake was a hard worker and dedicated employee. Most recently as Line Lead at Meijer Grocery Store in Sheboygan. Prior to Meijer he was part of management for Sears, Home Depot and Dollar Tree. He never had a problem climbing the corporate ladder quickly and loved his work. Although a hard worker, Jake's passions fell more in nature. While growing up out West his parents cultivated a love for hunting, fishing and camping in him, that only grew as an adult. He was up for any adventure offered and was lucky enough to hunt and fish with friends and family in multiple parts of the country. When not, outdoors he was also quite the chef and restaurant connoisseur. He always had a recommendation for a new restaurant or was preparing a feast for his family. Also, as an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan, the tailgate was his specialty. He frequently attended games with both friends and family. Lastly his number one passion was his daughter, Cecilia, He could not have been prouder of her. Jake is survived by both parents, he was the loving brother of Katie Vnuk (Benjamin), adored and loved by his daughter Cecilia Jay Ruth Vnuk and her mother Ashleigh Vnuk; nephews Easton, Trey and Ramsey Vnuk. He will be missed by his significant other Kate Joy and Bodie (puppy). Endeared by his maternal grandfather, (Ret) CSM Lacy Hendrick of Wyoming, MI. Loved by step siblings Kristen, John, Andrew, Karlyn, Kennan and Katie, also survived and missed by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins around the country. Preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Dorothy (nee Lekenta) Hendrick, aunt Marianne Hendrick of Wyoming, MI and his paternal grandparents John and Helen Vnuk of Satellite Beach, Florida. As a son, brother, father, uncle or friend Jake had a loving and compassionate nature. He never missed an opportunity to be a friend and always had your back and could cheer you up. His friends and family were his world. Everyone that knew him knows that contagious smile he flashed and was ready for nonstop jokes and laughter. He could light up a room and was always the life of the party. He will be truly missed by everyone whose life he touched. Later this summer there will be a graveside service with a public Celebration of Life to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation for Cecilia Jay Ruth Vnuk's College Fund, c/o Kohler Credit Union, 2550 Washington Street, Grafton, WI 53024. The Eernisse Funeral Home in Cedarburg, Michael Schramka Associate is assisting the family. Online condolences can be forwarded to the family at www.eernissefuneralhome.com.
