Jack Calvin Daehling formerly of Port Washington, passed away peacefully at Horizon Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the age of 90. He was born to Herman and Irma (nee Luedke) Daehling in South Milwaukee on January 1, 1927. He married Carolyn Hortvet on December 11, 1967 in Whitefish Bay, WI.
Jack graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1945 and served in the US Army in the occupation of Japan. He attended the University of Wisconsin School of Business and graduated in 1950. Jack was a transportation and logistics manager for various freight companies for 49 years. He retired to Port Washington, WI in 1991. Jack enjoyed woodworking and model trains. He was an avid Badgers fan and enjoyed working in his yard. He will be missed deeply by his family.
Jack is survived by his nephew, James (Tracy) Daehling; nieces, Ann (James) Gardner, Jane (Charles) Wright, Sue (Gary) Dickerson and Laurie Hortvet (Steve Antonellis). He is further survived by many great-nephews and nieces' other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Daehling and his brother Donald (Leora) Daehling.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Eernisse Funeral Home of Cedarburg with Pastor Janet Hartzell presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:00AM until the time of service. Private family burial at Forest Hill Cemetery in Oak Creek.
