Mrs. Irene Klein of Port Washington and formerly of Rhinelander passed away peacefully on November 1 2014 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 93 years old. Irene was born October 20 1921 in Chicago the daughter of Harry Wilson and Mary Ahern. On April 17 1941 she was united in marriage with Mathew Klein in Wheaton IL. The couple resided in Rhinelander where they owned a paint store before buying Matt's Bar a tavern that they ran for 15 years. Mathew preceded her in death in 1981. Irene was a baseball fanatic and an avid Brewers fan who kept statistics for many years. She enjoyed reading mystery novels and movies watching Nascar and spending time with her grandchildren. Irene is survived by 3 daughters: Margaret Peggy Petersen of Tomahawk Joyce (Larry) Hoban of Port Washington and Janet Cheatham of Eagle River. She is further survived by 5 grandchildren 6 great-grandchildren nieces nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Mathew 2 brothers and 1 sister. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 8 at 1PM at Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. Deacon Tom Surges will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon - 1PM. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
