Herbert Louis Herro was born in Oconomowoc, WI to Louis and Shaheeny Herro, December 10, 1929. He was Born to Eternal Life on December 6, 2016.
Survived by his children: Jerome (Corinne), Gerard (Kathy), Mary Jo Quackenboss (Andrew), David (Jay Franke), Norbertine Brother Steven and Paul (Kristi); grandchildren: Luke, James, Kevin, Matthew, Zachary, Paul, Margaret Symanski (John), Philip (fiancé Katie Shaheen), Anna, Kiara and Max; great-grandson: Jack Symanski; sister: Lila (Herro) Addis, along with other relatives and friends.
On June 18, 1955, he married the late Clare Kais at St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church, Milwaukee, WI. He served in the United States Army, February 1951-1953. He graduated from Messmer High School in Milwaukee; attended Detroit and Marquette Universities; graduated from University of Wisconsin, BBA degree and accounting major, and member of Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity.
Herb held several accounting and auditing positions in the Milwaukee and Racine areas until 1972, when he, Clare, and the family moved to Fond du Lac. He served J. F. Ahern Company, Fond du Lac for 20 enjoyable years as Controller and Secretary-Treasurer.
Always an active member of his church, he served as a trustee and officer at St. Pius X in Wauwatosa and St. Joseph in Fond du Lac. He was also a member of the School Board at St. Mary's Springs High School for 11 years, serving as treasurer for 10 of those years.
He was a passionate football player, coach, and fan, playing four years at Messmer High School, one year at University of Detroit, and one year in the Army. He also coached grade school football at St. Pius X in Wauwatosa and Ss. Mary and Joseph in Fond du Lac. He was an enthusiastic fan at all of his sons', grandsons', and granddaughters' sporting events.
Visitation Friday, December 9, 2016 from 3:30-4:45 pm at St. Joseph Parish, 1619 Washington St. Grafton, WI 53024, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 5:00 pm. Fr. Patrick Heppe will officiate; concelebrants are welcome. Entombment Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac, WI.
