Obituary

HARVEY A. GOLDBERG Mr. Harvey Goldberg of Three Lakes formerly of Port Washington passed away at his daughterrsquo;s home in Watertown Wednesday evening August 26 2009.nbsp; He was 77 years old.nbsp; Harvey was born in Port Washington son of Elmer and Gertrude Moon Goldberg.nbsp; He graduated from Port Washington High School with the class of 1949 and afterwards joined the United States Army.nbsp; Harvey worked for Modern Equipment in Port Washington retiring as a manager in April of 1994 after more than 30 dedicated years on the job.nbsp; On September 28 1985 he was united in marriage with Donna Nelson Bonkowski in Watertown.nbsp; The couple lived in Port Washington and Newburg until his retirement and later moved to Three Lakes.nbsp; Mr. Goldberg was a life member of American Legion Post 431 in Three Lakes as well as a member of the Jacksonville FL VFW Post.nbsp; He was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Port Washington as well as belonging to Eastern Star. Harvey was also a Past President of the Three Lakes Lions Club.nbsp; Currently Mr. Goldbergrsquo;s main passion was golf however he had many varied hobbies and interests that kept him busy.nbsp; Harvey had always been interested in rocks and stones. He could frequently be found with his eyes on the ground looking for treasures.nbsp; He liked trains and often built working models of steam engines.nbsp; In his youth he enjoyed scuba diving.nbsp; Harvey and his wife enjoyed hunting and fishing together raised sheep boarded horses while they lived in Newburg and built their home in Three Lakes together from the ground up. Other interests include carpentry building boats restoring planes snowmobile racing and genealogy.nbsp; nbsp;Mr. Goldberg also held a private pilots license and was a Ham radio operator as well as a gourmet cook.nbsp; He is survived by his wife Donna his four children: Gary (Beth) Goldberg of Castle Rock CO James (Sally) Goldberg of Homewood IL Bonnie (Robert) Babich of Channahan IL and Raymond (Kandace) Goldberg of Germantown seven step-children: Julia Detrick of Fort Meyers FL Ian Nelson of Jacksonville FL Paul (Yolanda) Bonkowski of Orange Park FL Theresa (Jerry) Frail of Claymont DE James (Cindy) Bonkowski of New Berlin Lisa Krueger of Watertown and Jon Bonkowski of Florida.nbsp; He is also survived by 28 grandchildren 8 great-grandchildren 1 sister Patricia Goldberg of Des Moines IA and 1 aunt Ruth Moon of Sacramento CA.nbsp; Further surviving are 3 sisters-in-law: Dee Adamek of Lake Forest Park WA Nyla (Bud) Van Brunt of Mesa AZ and Judi Nelson of St. Louis MO 2 brothers-in-law: Richard (Nancy) Nelson of Mexico NY and Myles Nelson of Manitowoc nieces nephews cousins other relatives and friends.nbsp; He is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Joan Goldberg and 2 brothers-in-law Harold and Bill Nelson.nbsp; Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Tuesday September 1st at First Congregational Church 131 N. Webster St. Port Washington.nbsp; Rev. Jeff Suddendorf will officiate.nbsp; He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Union Cemetery in Port Washington.nbsp; The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington on Monday August 31st from 4-7PM concluding with a Masonic Service and again at the church on Tuesday from 10-11AM.nbsp; The family suggests memorials in Harveyrsquo;s name to the Alpha-1 Foundation the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.nbsp;nbsp;br /Service:br /pspan style=font-size: 12pt;span style=font-family: Times New Roman;Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Tuesday September 1st at First Congregational Church 131 N.
