Mr. Harry J. Knap age 89 years of Port Washington passed away on Saturday October 22 2005 at Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cedarburg where he had been a resident. He was born on September 22 1916 in Milwaukee son of the late John and Angeline Szajna Knap. On May 3 1952 he married Rita Schmitz in St. Anna WI. Harry served in the Army during WWII in anti-aircraft artillery. He successfully completed Ranger training and also served as an instructor. After being discharged from the Army he attended classes at MSOE. His education led him to take a job with Kroening Engineering Co. Harry left Kroening to become a Project Engineer and later Area Operations Manager with Pure Oil Company. He then left Pure Oil to become a Regional Vice President of Hanna Industries of Portland OR. Harry also built and operated car washes both in Wisconsin and Florida. Harry was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Port Washington the Ozaukee Senior Golf Association serving as Vice President for two years and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He also enjoyed shooting pool with his friends at the Port Washington Senior Center. Mr. Knap is survived by his wife Rita of Port Washington and one son John (Jane) Knap of Cedarburg. He is further survived by one granddaughter Jessica Knap two brothers Ted (Elinore) Knap of McLean VA and Tony (Doris) of Walla Walla WA nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents sister Helen and brother Florian. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday October 26 2005 5 PM at St. Peter's Catholic Church 1800 N. Wisconsin St. Port Washington with Father Patrick Wendt officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Port Washington. A time of gathering will take place on Wednesday October 26th at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorials to Port Catholic Schools suggested. br /Service:br /5:00 PM at 1800 N.
